History of the Körönd Palace
Körönd Palace is located on Andrássy út in the most beautiful and upscale area of Budapest
MÁV SZÉKHÁZ
Andrássy út 88–90. (Kodály körönd 3.), the former tenement house of the MÁV pension institution was built in the Neo-Renaissance style according to the plans of Gusztáv Petschacher in 1880–1881. It stands in the southeast corner of the square, on the left side of Andrássy út (facing Heroes’ Square). According to some sources, although the four buildings in the square look almost the same, “the bustling, colorful blocks of buildings with the towers provide a special atmosphere experience. The other 3 buildings in the circle are also adventurous, but their beauty cannot be surpassed.
Sgraffito was decorated by Bertalan Székely and Lajos Rauscher, and its wrought-iron fence and gate were created by Gyula Jungfer, behind which was replaced by an elegant garden.
The house has three floors, 4 facades, U-shaped floor plan. One of its two entrances opens onto Andrássy út and the other onto Szinyei Merse utca, where a Szinyei Merse memorial plaque made by Miklós Borsos can be seen on the wall of the house. The main ledge is serrated and its walls are decorated with frescoes that were repainted during the 1962 renovation. Tower rooms can be seen at the corners of the building.

KÖRÖND PALACE BY VARRO DESIGN
Kodály körönd Budapest VI. in the district of Terézváros. Andrássy út passes through it, while Szinyei Merse utca and Felső erdősor utca are connected perpendicular to it. The square is named after musicologist Zoltán Kodály.
The space consists of 4 buildings and the circular terraces in front of them. The numbering of the 4 buildings follows the path of Andrássy, although they have their own numbering, Kodály körönd. As Andrássy út is a World Heritage Site, the 4 buildings are also part of it
Kodály körönd is one of the two squares of Andrássy út (the other is Oktogon). Between the two squares is the middle section of Andrássy út, and the third section of the road from Kodály körönd to Hősök tér. The middle section is still built with tenement houses, while the outer section is dominated by villa buildings, so the circle connects the two separate “faces” of Andrássy út.
Under the Andrássy út runs the World Heritage metro line M1, which was opened in 1896 and has a stop on the ring road, which is also called Kodály körönd.
